Beginnings of Faerykin Puppetry
So what is it about Faerykin Puppetry that spreads magic wherever we go?
Like most “Boomers,” I grew up watching the Muppets on Sesame Street and on the Ed Sullivan Show. From an early age I was fascinated with puppets and puppetry. Then one day when I was about ten years old I came across a pattern for Kermit the Frog in one of my grandmother’s sewing magazines. I begged her to teach me to sew, and shortly afterwards created my first puppet from some of her scrap cloth.
From that day forward I had a lifetime obsession with crafting and creating puppets.
I spent my middle school years performing puppet shows at our monthly activity periods. In high school I learned to create “monster puppets” for a haunted house sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club, and began to explore marionettes and special effects.
Shortly after graduating high school, I volunteered for Head Start in Pensacola, Florida, writing and producing puppet shows for the students there.
I later went to college and became a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist. My love of puppetry worked well in the playroom with my patients. They were able to express things through puppetry that we could never have achieved together through more traditional therapy means.
Now that I am retired from the therapy world, I’m returning to my first love: Puppetry.
Faerykin Puppetry was founded in 2020 when my wife and I moved from the East Coast to Tacoma, Washington.

One of the first examples of this I ever saw was Jim Henson’s version of The Frog Prince, featuring everyone’s favorite Muppet, Kermit the Frog.
